Schools throughout Pembina Hills are celebrating School Bus Safety Week October 20-26.

Poster contest

Kindergarten to Grade 6 students are invited to participate in the ASTAC School Bus Safety Poster contest. The theme is “Ready to Ride” and the deadline for poster submissions is November 8, 2019.

Each winner — one from each grade level — will receive a $25 gift card, a framed original of their poster, an engraved plaque and $100 for their classroom.

Student training

Our students are learning how to be responsible riders, thanks to the Safely on Board program that is making stops at all Pembina Hills Public Schools this fall. Students in Pre-school, Kindergarten, Grades 2, 4 and 6 will take part this year. To reinforce what students learn in the bus safety lessons, we also run school bus evacuation drills twice a year.

Driver awareness

While student education is critical when it comes to bus safety, driver awareness is equally important to focus on during School Bus Safety Week. Stay tuned to our facebook page for more posts throughout the week.
