Citizenship Award Winner – Kresten McKort

May 24th, 2019

Kresten McKort is a Grade 6 student at Fort Assiniboine School and was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Deb Breitkreitz. In her nomination, Mrs. Breitkreitz said that Kresten demonstrates responsibility by helping his teacher and classmates with things in the classroom, but it’s his willingness to help his Kindergarten Buddy that makes him stand out. Kresten has been reading with his buddy since September and has been a very positive influence in many ways. While other partners have changed, he has asked if they can continue working together next year.

Kresten goes out of his way to encourage students of all ages and shares his positive attitude with others. During the school’s Terry Fox Run, Kresten chose to encourage and support younger children while running, doing extra laps to encourage those who had not yet finished. During sporting activities like soccer, basketball and volleyball, he often cheers on both teams.

When faced with challenges at school, Kresten works towards goals by keeping an open mind and he also has learned to set small goals to help him be more successful. Kresten is very kind and considerate and has helped foster even more positive relationships between students and staff in his small community school.

The school board recognizes the positive contributions Kresten makes to his school and community by presenting him with the Citizenship Award. Congratulations!
