Citizenship Award Winner – Ava Henry

December 12th, 2019

Ava Henry is a Grade 1 student at Eleanor Hall School and was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Program Assistant Chris Lantz, who included examples of every single award criteria. She demonstrates responsibility with rules, routines, expectations, as well as her own and others’ property. Helping others, especially those who need extra support, comes naturally to Ava, and she always helps with a smile. Ava can rarely be found without a smile on her face, and this cheerful, positive attitude is contagious to friends and staff alike.

She is a natural encourager who is willing to play with anyone, especially those in need of extra kindness. When others talk to her, Ava always listens and asks questions to learn more, showing genuine interest and making others feel like what they have to say is important. Ava is dependable, a determined learner and works toward her goals, including barrel racing!

Ava has strong values and honesty is one of them. She has the courage to do what is right, not to be rewarded, but because that’s who she is. She often thinks of others before herself, letting people go ahead of her in line, standing up for others, cheering for her friends, and letting staff know if somebody needs help. Lantz says, “What truly sets Ava apart is her empathetic heart, as she’s always looking out for others and helping them where needed. She is an excellent role model to all her peers.”

The school board is pleased to present Ava with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
