NPCS student enrolment on the rise

September 26th, 2019

At the September 25th board meeting, Neerlandia Public Christian School Principal Brett Seatter reported that the school has approximately 20 more students this year. They also welcomed eight new staff members to the school this fall. Offering an alternative Christian program, the school focuses on providing the highest quality of education for our students, integrating the Bible into all curriculum throughout the year. Growth is expected to continue into next year.

Buses will not run in -40°C or colder

The division has added temperature as a condition for cancellation of bus runs — a bus run will not operate when the temperature is minus 40 degrees Celsius (-40°C) or colder at the start of a route. Windchill will not be considered as a factor.

Because weather conditions vary across the division, individual drivers are required to monitor temperatures and communicate with the Transportation Director when the temperature reaches -40°C or colder. Individual bus drivers will continue to make the decision on whether their bus will run during other inclement weather.

As always, bus drivers will contact parents when runs are cancelled. School bus route reports are also updated daily on the division website. For more information, parents may refer to Administrative Procedure 70-101 Emergency School Closing.

Board approves a national field trip

The school board approved, in principle, a field trip request for twelve Barrhead Composite High School photography students to go to Vancouver in May 2020. The students will have an opportunity to run their own fashion shoot from all aspects, including meeting with clients, hiring models, and finding make-up artists and lighting equipment.

See the board meeting agenda and minutes for more information.

The next school board meeting is at the Pembina Hills Regional Office in Barrhead on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 starting at 9:30 a.m. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
