Citizenship Award Winner – Skye Kubinec

June 24th, 2019

Skye Kubinec is a Grade 6 student at École Westlock Elementary School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by her homeroom teacher, Robert Weiss who says, “Skye brings a positive attitude and a readiness to learn and do her best. She is kind and respectful to her peers, and consistently makes positive choices and guides others to do the same.” Skye sets goals for herself and works towards those goals, persevering through difficult times. She is a team player, dependable, and is always willing to do what is best for the team.

Other school staff describe Skye as responsible, hardworking and honest, saying she will stand up for what is right even when it is a hard thing to do. An example of Skye’s honesty is the time she found an iPod in the snow and returned it to the staff member it belonged to. Skye never complains and consistently helps those who need it. She even gives up some of her recess time to help Mrs. Gerun in the office.

The school board is pleased to present Skye with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
