Trustees nominate Tracy Meunier for ASBOA Award

February 20th, 2018

Secretary Treasurer Tracy Meunier brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Pembina Hills Public Schools. As a leader she will do whatever it takes to “get the job done” and is always seeking ways to maximize finite resources for the benefit of our community’s children.

Those are just some of the reasons the school board chose to nominate Tracy for one of three Awards of Excellence for the Association of School Business Officials of Alberta (ASBOA). Tracy has been an active member of ASBOA since 1984 — the organization represents more than 200 school business officials in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Here are just a few of the comments the school board included in their nomination.

Tracy stays on top of government regulations, breaking down terms and questions so staff and trustees can better understand what the numbers mean and how they fit.

Her ability to put the numbers into words and visuals that makes sense to all the “non-accountants” in the room is essential to our planning process each year.

Tracy is a strong leader whose passion for numbers is evident in everything she does. She responds to complex challenges within our division with creative and innovative solutions.

She truly does feel that her role is to serve, and that is evident in her skills as she juggles the tasks of the board, senior administration and the finance department.

She holds community in high regard and can often be heard to say “we are public servants”. In a rural school division that is constantly trying to balance student needs with declining enrolment and rising costs, Tracy continues to meet new challenges with creative solutions that are both fair and unique.

Award recipients will be announced at the association’s annual conference banquet on April 25th. Thank you Tracy for your commitment to students — congratulations and good luck!
