Board adopts 2017-18 Non-Union Staff Handbook
Earlier this year, the school board met with non-union staff groups to discuss non-monetary items for consideration in the 2017-18 Non-Union Staff Handbook. The handbook was adopted at the June 14 meeting.

Support staff will not receive a salary increase for the 2017-18 school year. This is consistent with the recently ratified agreement between the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) and the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA).

Update on superintendent recruitment
Following a nation-wide recruitment campaign that began in May 2017, the school board made an offer of employment to the successful candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The offer is subject to approval from Education Minister David Eggen. Once the Minister’s approval is received, the board will be able to announce the successful candidate.

Travel, expenses and trustee honorarium rates to remain the same
The school board voted to maintain the travel, expense and trustee honorarium at the same rates as 2016-17. See the rates annex for details.

School board adopts 2017-18 meeting schedule and workplan
A copy of the 2017-18 meeting schedule can be found here. The public is welcome to attend.

The school board adopted the 2017-18 board workplan. This guides the work of the board throughout the year, month by month.

R.F. Staples Secondary School headed to San Francisco in May 2018
The school board approved in principle a request from the R. F. Staples Secondary School Travel Club for an international field trip to San Francisco from May 17-22, 2018.

The Barrhead Composite High School Photography class shared a video report with the board on their recent international field trip to New York City.
